Faith
(played by Hillary Crouse)

Faith is Katherine’s next-door neighbor, and the unofficial leader of her Women’s Auxiliary at Venison Christian Church, a small clique of ladies who enjoy shopping, having lunch, weekly Bible study -- and oh, yeah -- feeling superior to everyone since they’re filthy rich. Faith is a shining example of the fundamentalist American right. She believes God is guiding everything and is taking care of those who are deserving of his grace -- you know, rich, white Christians. Faith is sure that God will get her brother-in-law re-elected, so instead of helping his campaign, she concentrates her efforts on a fundraiser for a new organ for Pastor Bob, the group’s spiritual leader. Faith is also obsessed in making sure her children have ‘good Christian values’ -- so naturally she freaks out when her son develops an affinity for dressing in his sister’s princess costume, and her daughter questions the idea that the woman’s place is in the home. Can she maintain the status quo?

Or go out in a burning cross of flames.

Suzy
(played by Jessica Lancaster)

Suzy is a newbie to the Women’s Auxiliary that Faith has taken under her judgmental wing. Suzy has a sordid past, so she’s a good prospect for ‘saving,’ and will do anything to be liked. She takes to her new found beliefs like a wino to a good Merlot. The problem is, deep down inside Suzy isn’t happy. She loves the money and her new friends, but is this the real Suzy? A drinking and drugging binge at the church Octoberfest costume party on election night might shake Suzy’s faith. But then again, she can go back to the church and the Women’s Auxiliary and be forgiven by Jesus by repenting her sins, can’t she?

Or can she?

Madonna
(played by Erin Cummings)

Madonna is a long-time member of the Women’s Auxiliary and is Faith’s outspoken accomplice in crime. She hates homosexuals, people of color and the poor, and isn’t afraid to confront anyone who she deems a blight on Venison. And she’ll make sure to tell them to their faces that they aren’t welcome in her town. She’s particularly upset at Whitehead, the Democratic candidate, because his son is trying to marry his male lover on TV -- and, if elected, plans to turn Venison into the ‘gay marriage capitol’ of the state. Like all narrow-minded, catty vixens, she needs a rival, and Amber fits the bill nicely. Madonna revels in her sexuality and believes that sin is part of human nature, ‘as natural as going to the bathroom or masturbating.’ All you need to do is ask Jesus to forgive you, ‘and have a clean slate, right?’ Speaking of Jesus, Jim Caviezel’s portrayal in “The Passion of the Christ” really gets Madonna hot, especially the part where he’s all ‘gross and bloody and getting whipped.’

But it’s okay. It’s spiritual torture.

Amber
(played by Jodi Shilling)

Amber is this group’s enigma, because other than the money and religion, it’s a complete mystery why she’s in the Women’s Auxiliary. Amber is all about the Bible, so much so that she only speaks in biblical verse, which she mangles beyond all recognition, taking complete license with it to suit the situation. And she believes God has bestowed this gift upon her. Her Amber alert? She hates Madonna, sin and Satan. And as you can imagine, she and Madonna are like oil and holy water. Will they mix?

Or mix it up.
